I Am Brooke

I knew it had to happen at some point given the fact that we have a curious two year-old.  It was inevitable.  Yesterday Brooke ripped off lots of toilet paper and dropped it into the toilet paper until the toilet paper was helplessly clogged.  Thankfully she did not try to flush.

Brooke went for her first haircut today.  She just needed to have the ends trimmed for the first time.  She was not thrilled about getting her hair cut, but she did very well.  She sat still and didn’t cry or fuss.

Okay, maybe once in a while I have thought that it might be nice to tape Brooke’s mouth shut, but I swear that I had nothing to do with this other than giving her sticky tape and taking the picture.

One of Brooke’s favorite toys is her little doctor’s kit.  She is a good doctor who gives all of her patients a very thorough exam.  She will check your heart, eyes, knees, temperature, teeth, and blood pressure as well as administer shots and medicines.  This morning Brooke dropped her Jessie doll (from Toy Story 2) off the top of her bed.  I told her that Jessie looked like she may have hurt her back and leg, so Brooke quickly came down and gave Jessie an complete medical evaluation.  Brooke told Jessie not to worry because “Doc Me” would fix her.  Jessie ended up needing a band-aid on her back and was told to lie down to rest a while.  Brooke then went and got Jessie some pink flowers that came with her Little People.  How did Brooke know that it was socially appropriate to bring someone flowers when they are recovering from illness?  Brooke also brought Jessie some milk to drink (because of course she would be thirsty!) and a book to read (because of course she might want to read while she is recuperating).   I told Brooke that she was an excellent doctor.  Brooke agreed and told Jessie that she has a “good doc”.

Other cool things about me: I can count to twelve…but I always leave out seven, sometimes start with A, and sometimes just like to count from eight to twelve. I can identify every letter of the alphabet. I can’t always tell you what color something is, but if you ask me to pick out an object of a certain color I can find it for you.

This morning Brooke decided she wanted to wear all of her bows and barrettes.

This morning when I went to pick Brooke up from church nursery the girls working there told me that they wanted to tell me Brooke is always so good while she is there.  They said that two year-olds can be rather challenging at times, but Brooke is always perfect.  I looked at them shocked for a moment like they were talking about some other child in the room.  Then I asked, “Are you sure you mean my daughter?  She is insane at home.”  They laughed and reassured me that they had the correct child and that she behaves wonderfully.  It is good to know that Brooke does know how to be well-behaved…she just chooses to act like a wild animal at home.
