Other cool things about me: I just finished my first year of preschool! I love riding my bike!

Brooke has been asking to go to the zoo for weeks, and we finally got there yesterday.  She had been looking forward to feeding the fish and seeing the butterflies, and she was very happy to do both of those things.  Brooke also surprised us by doing two other things at the zoo that we thought she would be too scared to try:

1. She fed a giraffe out of her hand.
2. She touched a big snake.

Today Brooke officially completed her first year of preschool. She knows that she will be off for summer break and return in August to a new class across the hall with new teachers. She knows her friends will be in the new class. She is still sad. Rather than make the end of school something sad, I tried to make her feel like we were celebrating an accomplishment. So, I promised her that on the last day of school I would pick her up and take her for a special fancy lady lunch. Brooke was very excited and even came skipping out of school the last day asking about her fancy lady lunch with Mommy. We went to the Pink Flamingo Room in downtown Northport where we sat outside and sipped pink lemonade, used pink napkins, and enjoyed some fancy sandwiches. I hope we can make this a new Mom and Daughter last day of school tradition.

On trying new foods:

“If you don’t try new things, you have to try old things.”

This is Brooke’s last full week of preschool, and the theme this week is “fun” week.  Every day has a different theme, and Monday was School Spirit Day.  I had no idea what this really meant, but many of the kids came dressed in Alabama or Auburn gear.  I guess I should have sent Brooke in something like that (mental note for next year).  Evidently cheerleaders came to school and did stunts (I think the Alabama cheerleaders).  Brooke came home and wanted me to lift her up so she could stand on my shoulders as well as flip her in the air and catch her.  I agreed to neither of these things, but it didn’t stop her from attempting more stunts on the couch.  She loved those cheerleaders.
