I Am Brooke

Today we were at Target, and Brooke insisted on getting a toy even though I reminded her that Christmas was just days away.  Daddy agreed that she could purchase something small, so she decided on a little set of Barbie dolls.  It was not until we got home that I realized we mistakenly purchased the African American set of dolls rather than the more appropriate Caucasian set of dolls.  Brooke does not seem to notice anything different about the dolls, which also made me happy.  I am glad that she seems to be fine with the fact that dolls, like people, can come in all sizes and colors.

Dear Santa,

I want a baby My My Little Pony.  I love you and Luke, but Luke pulls my hair.  You can bring him some presents though.  Mommy can get a game and a soccer ball.  Mommy doesn’t like Tak and JuJu, Spongebob, or Jimmy Neutron.  Mommy yells at Luke all the time.  Luke plays with me and I play with him.  I have twins named Brooke and Luke.  They need jammies and two beds.  Mommy needs her own dollhouse.

Brooke has been sick for the past two days, and we thought she was going to have to miss out on seeing the Nutcracker for the first time.  But with some rest and some extra precautions, we headed off to Birmingham today to see the Nutcracker.  Brooke loved the ballet.  She had picked out an outfit days before and talked about going to the ballet incessantly.  I bought her a book about the Nutcracker so she would know the story line before we got there.  The ballet was even better than she anticipated.  She sat right on the edge of her seat watching intently for the whole first act.  By the second act she had tired and was not feeling great, but she still sat on my lap and clapped vigorously every time the dancers performed a particularly spectacular step.  I am hoping we can have this be the start of a mother daughter tradition.

Mommy promises to start updating my blog again in the next week.  She has been very busy trying to get a stupid job and write her little dissertation.
